Nexa IIFA awards 2023 highlights From Hrithik Roshan winning Best Actor R Madhavan bagging Best Director
With a star-studded mega celebration for its 23rd edition at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, Nexa IIFA2023 co-presented by Sobha Realty and co-powered by the Kuber Group brought the best of Indian cinema on Friday and Saturday. The glamorous event witnessed the presence of numerous prominent stars, adding to the allure of the occasion. Among the illustrious attendees, Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt, and R. Madhavan emerged as the biggest winners of the night, receiving the most prestigious awards. The IIFA 2023 award night was a true spectacle of entertainment, with every aspect exuding a vibrant and captivating atmosphere. Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan took charge as the hosts, bringing an exceptional level of energy to the stage that was truly praiseworthy.
The award night at IIFA witnessed stunning performances by several talented actresses, leaving the audience mesmerized. Kriti Sanon and Nora Fatehi particularly stood out with their dazzling acts, captivating everyone with their exceptional stage presence. Not to be outdone, the male stars brought their A-game to the IIFA stage, delivering power-packed performances that left a lasting impression. Varun Dhawan and Salman Khan, known for their charismatic dance numbers, enthralled the audience with their electrifying performances, setting the stage on fire. Their energy and charm were palpable, creating an unforgettable experience for the attendees. Furthermore, Hrithik Roshan, a Master of Dance, showcased his epic moves in a banter segment with the hosts, Abhishek and Vicky.
Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan bagged the Best Actor in a leading role (Male) for Vikram Vedha. Best Direction Category award was presented to R Madhavan for Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Gangubai Kathiawadi won several awards including Best Actor in a leading role (Female) by Alia Bhatt, which was accepted by Jayantilal Gada on behalf of Alia Bhatt and Best Debut (Male) by Shantanu Maheshwari. Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra: Part 1 Shiva also bagged numerous awards including Performance an a supporting role (Female) by Mouni Roy, Music Direction by Pritam, Playback Singer (Female) by Shreya Ghoshal for the song ‘Rasiya’, Playback Singer and Lyrics (Male) by none other than Arijit Singh and Amitabh Bhattacharya for the song ‘Kesariya’ respectively. Drishyam 2 also won couple of awards including Best Picture category and Best Story (Adapted) by Aamil Keeyan Khan and Abhishek Patha. Best Performance in a supporting role (Male) was bagged by evergreen Anil Kapoor for Jug Jugg Jeeyo. Best Debut (Female) was given to Khushali Kumar for Dhoka Around the Corner and Best Story (Original) was won by Parveez Sheikh and Jasmeet Reen for the film Darlings. Apart from Shantanu Maheshwar, Babil Khan also bagged Best Debut (Male) award for Qala.
Apart from this, special award for ‘Outstanding achievement in regional cinema’ was presented to Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza. A.R Rahman presented the outstanding award to Kamal Haasan for his ‘Outstanding achievement in Indian cinema.’ Designer Manish Malhotra was honoured for his ‘Outstanding achievement in fashion in cinema’.
Performance highlights of the event was the opening performance which had the vast desert landscape with sand dunes, a mesmerizing backdrop of the desert along with vibrant landscapes and cultural heritage of Abu Dhabi. Second performance by Varun Dhawan on ‘The Punjaban’ song, ‘Malhari’, ‘Garmi’, ‘Shava Shava’, ‘Singham’, ‘Palat’, ‘Jungle Mein Kaand’ and ‘Naacho Naacho’ was truly energetic.
Kriti Sanon’s performance on ‘Apna bana le’, ‘Thumkeshwari’, ‘Munda sona hoon main’, ‘Param sundari’ joined by Quick Style dancers, followed by ‘Coca Cola Tu’, ‘Ao Kabhi Havelli Pe’, ‘Main tera boyfriend’, ‘Sweety tera drama’, set the stage on fire.
Bollywood Wives, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, Seema Kiran Sajdeh and Neelam Kothar made a special announcement – they’re going on a world tour for the show’s next season. A fun segment called Let’s Battle It Out – between Vicky Kaushal and Varun Dhawan took place that entertained the audience. Breath taking performance by Rakul Preet Singh enchanted the audience with her awe-inspiring performance on ‘Aaiye Meherbaan’, ‘Babuji Dheere Chalna’, ‘Ajeeb dastan’, ‘Mud mud ke na dekh’, ‘Pyar hua ikrar hua’, ‘Mera naam chin chin chu’. The new jodi of Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan danced on the video of their latest song from their film Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez performed on ‘Paani paani’, ‘Kala shakala’, ‘Show me your thumka’, ‘Ra ra rakamma’. Nora Fatehi also grooved on ‘Aaj ki raat koi aane ko hai’, ‘Aao na gale lagaalo na’, ‘Piya tu ab toh aaja’, ‘Duniya mein logo ko’, ‘Yeh mera dil yaar ka deewana’, ‘Laila o Laila’. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan danced on ‘Oh Oh Jaane Jana’ with Quickstyle, ‘Kisi ka bhai kisi ka jaan’, ‘Billi billi’, ‘Aaja soniye seeti maar’, ‘You’re my love’, ‘Joote dedo paise lo’, ‘Tumpar hum hai atke’, ‘Baby ko bass pasand hai’, ‘Aaj ki party’, ‘Jumme ki raat’, ‘Yentamma yentamma’.
