Telegram Premium Subscription Confirmed To Launch This Month
Telegram Premium rumours have been circulating for some time, and today, the company’s founder and CEO, Durov, confirmed that Telegram Premium, a subscription plan that allows anyone to acquire additional features, speed, and resources, will be available later this month.
According to Durov’s telegram post, the main reason for this change is that the platform’s demanding users want the platform to raise the current limits even higher and introducing specialised subscriptions for them would allow them to get more while keeping our existing features free. Paid subscribers would have access to additional features, speed, and resources. Users will also be able to support Telegram and join the club that gets new features first.
Durov also confirmed that “all existing features will remain free, and there will be plenty of new free features coming,” implying that existing Telegram users will not be forced to upgrade to a premium subscription for the features they’re experiencing now. Additionally, users who do not subscribe to Telegram Premium will also be able to take advantage of some of its features, such as viewing extra-large documents, media, and stickers sent by Premium users, or tapping to add Premium reactions already pinned to a message to react in the same way.
Announcing that the company’s advertising experiments in public channels have been more successful than expected, Durov says the service should be primarily funded by its users rather than advertisers in order to ensure that the users remain the site’s primary focus in future.
