Sony’s best-selling gaming console, the PlayStation 5, has seen a price hike in India. Both the PlayStation 5 with Blu-ray drive and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition have received a Rs. 5,000 price increase from the launch price and are now available for Rs. 54,990 and Rs. 44,990, respectively.
Although there has been no official announcement from the company, Sony’s official store has listed the consoles with increased prices. We believe that the price increase was caused by the global recession and currency depreciation.
The Sony PS5 console is powered by an octa-core AMD Ryzen CPU based on their Zen 2 architecture, paired with a 36-core RDNA-2-based GPU, 16GB of RAM, and a custom-designed 825GB NVMe SSD.
It’s worth noting that Sony hasn’t raised the prices of first-party console accessories. The prices of the consoles, as well as the revised prices of the PS5 consoles, are listed below.
- Sony PlayStation 5 – Rs. 54,990
- Sony PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – Rs. 44,990
