Samsung hasn’t released flagship processors for its smartphones in a long time, but the company is apparently working on them. We previously reported about the impending Exynos 2400 CPU, which features a 10-core architecture, in February. And now it appears that the company is also working on a chipset with 10-core design, dubbed the Exynos 2300.

A new Samsung smartphone with the model number SM-S919O and a 9-core CPU architecture appeared on Geekbench. The CPU features 1 core running at 2.60 GHz, 4 cores running at 2.59 GHz, and 4 cores running at 1.82 GHz, implying a 1+4+4 configuration. The Exynos 2300 is claimed to be the chipset.

In prior rumors, the Exynos 2300 was supposed to include an unusual 9-core CPU configuration, with one prime Cortex-X3 core clocked at up to 3.09 GHz, four Cortex-A715 cores running at 2.65 GHz, and four Cortex-A510 cores running at 2.1 GHz.

The chip that has recently shown on Geekbench is strikingly similar to the one that has recently appeared in an unnamed Samsung handset. Although the speculated CPU frequencies differ from the real ones, this is common for hardware under development.

Further, the upcoming Exynos 2300 chipset is expected to use a semi-design based on AMD’s RDNA2 architecture for its GPU. Other details about the upcoming phone and chipset remains a mystery. We should get more details about them in the coming months.
