Microsoft Brings Bing AI Chatbot To Mobile Apps Skype

Microsoft has announced the arrival of its new Bing preview experience, now available on Bing and Edge Mobile apps. Additionally, the firm has integrated Bing into Skype. Earlier this month, they unveiled the AI-powered Bing and Microsoft Edge, describing it as “your copilot for the web.”

Microsoft announces Preview of New Bing and Edge Mobile Apps

Microsoft will begin roll out of the capabilities of the new Bing and Edge on the smartphone, such as voice input, and creating a new chat experience with Skype to enhance your social communications.

Introducing Mobile Bing and Edge with Voice Access

The new mobile apps for Bing and Edge are designed to help you get the most out of the web even when away from your desktop, says Microsoft. With 64% of searches now taking place on mobile phones, these apps make it easy to plan trips, store luggage, navigate metro systems and even translate as you go.

As an example, imagine you have an unexpected layover in a new city. With just a few hours to explore, you can ask Bing to help you find a place to store your luggage, and it will provide you with a short itinerary to get the best out of your visit.

  • Voice Search on Bing Mobile App: Microsoft has added one of their community’s most requested features, voice search, to their new Bing mobile app. This feature is available on both mobile and desktop devices, providing more flexibility in how users can search and receive answers from Bing.
  • Microsoft Edge Mobile App: The preview version of the new Bing experience can also be accessed from the homepage of the Microsoft Edge mobile app.

Bing and Skype Connect for a More Social Experience

To improve collaboration with friends and family, we are launching AI-powered Bing for Skype. Over 36 million people use Skype daily to communicate across borders, and the new Bing will enable helpful and entertaining new scenarios.

Features

  • Add Bing to a group chat, like any Skype contact.
  • Ask Bing questions and get access to information for the whole group.
  • Fetch web results like news or awards.

As an example; When planning a family reunion, ask Bing for travel destinations, weather forecasts, and events around your travel date.

Bing can display your answers in bullet points, text, or a simplified response and is available in over 100 languages with the ability to translate between them, offering unique value to global communications. The user experience with Skype may differ at first due to the initial rollout.

Bing Preview Testing

The features of the Bing preview experience are available as of today. However, during the initial testing period, there may be occasional issues with connectivity in low-bandwidth areas. Microsoft is aware of this and is working on a fix.

Availability

  • The Bing mobile app with a fresh look and experience is now available on iOS and Android.
  • The new Bing in Skype provides helpful, real-time answers to all your questions and is available worldwide in preview today.
