MediaTek and NVIDIA have joined forces to develop a comprehensive lineup of in-vehicle AI cabin solutions for future software-defined vehicles. This collaboration leverages the expertise of both companies to deliver top-notch solutions for advanced connected cars.

MediaTek and NVIDIA Collaborate for Next-Gen In-Vehicle AI Solutions

At the COMPUTEX press conference, MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai and NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang announced an exciting partnership between the two companies.

The collaboration aims to revolutionize the future of software-defined vehicles by delivering a wide range of advanced in-vehicle AI solutions.

Advanced SoCs with NVIDIA GPU Chiplet Integration

MediaTek is set to develop automotive System-on-Chips (SoCs) that combine a new NVIDIA GPU chiplet with NVIDIA’s AI and graphics intellectual property.

These chiplets will be interconnected using an ultra-fast and coherent chiplet interconnect technology. By incorporating this GPU chiplet, NVIDIA can expand its GPU and accelerated compute capabilities across diverse markets.

Cutting-Edge AI Cabin Solutions

MediaTek’s intelligent cabin solutions will leverage NVIDIA’s suite of software technologies, including DRIVE OS, DRIVE IX, CUDA, and TensorRT, to deliver cutting-edge capabilities.

This collaboration will enable the delivery of a comprehensive suite of AI cabin and cockpit functions, equipped with state-of-the-art graphics, AI capabilities, safety features, and enhanced security.

Market Opportunities and Enhanced Capabilities

With the aim of surpassing industry demands, MediaTek and NVIDIA will work together to provide automotive solutions that address the growing needs of the market.

The partnership represents a significant market opportunity for both companies, as the total addressable market for infotainment and instrument cluster SoCs in vehicles is projected to reach $12 billion by 2023, according to Gartner.

Expanding In-Vehicle Infotainment Options

By leveraging NVIDIA’s expertise in AI, cloud computing, graphics technology, and software ecosystem, MediaTek can enhance its comprehensive Dimensity Auto platform.

This platform already leverages MediaTek’s proficiency in mobile computing, high-speed connectivity, entertainment, and the extensive Android ecosystem. The collaboration will result in a more intelligent and feature-rich in-vehicle experience.

Elevating the Dimensity Auto Platform

The integration of the NVIDIA GPU chiplet into MediaTek’s automotive offering will greatly boost the performance capabilities of the Dimensity Auto platform. As a result, automakers will have access to more in-vehicle infotainment options through the NVIDIA DRIVE platform.

Furthermore, MediaTek’s Auto Connect functionality will empower drivers to maintain seamless wireless connectivity through high-speed telematics and Wi-Fi networking.

By combining their strengths and expertise, MediaTek and NVIDIA are poised to shape the future of connected cars with their advanced AI cabin solutions, benefiting both consumers and the automotive industry as a whole.

Speaking on the announcement, Rick Tsai, Vice Chairman and CEO of MediaTek, said:

NVIDIA makes amazing things with AI and computers. We are working with them to make a place where car makers can find everything they need to make smart cars that can talk to each other. We and NVIDIA will use our skills to make a special platform for the cars of the future that need a lot of computing power and software.

Commenting on the collaboration, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, said:

AI and accelerated computing are fueling the transformation of the entire auto industry. The combination of MediaTek’s industry-leading SoC and NVIDIA’s GPU and AI software technologies will enable new user experiences, enhanced safety and new connected services for all vehicle segments, from luxury to mainstream.
