Lenovo showed off its new ThinkPad X1 Fold today. It is the next generation of the foldable PCs that Lenovo started in 2020. The new ThinkPad X1 Fold is made to keep the ultra-portability that the first ground-breaking gadget provided while providing full PC performance with a bigger screen surface. To recall, Lenovo’s Xiaoxin Pad Pro was launched earlier as well.
It has a 16.3-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2024 x 2560 pixels, a 4:3 aspect ratio, full DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage, and Dolby Vision compatibility. According to the manufacturer, the display is capable of reaching a maximum brightness of 600 nits.
The display of the laptop, which can be folded up, measures 12 inches. According to Lenovo, the touchscreen is encased in bezels of 8mm. In addition to that, it offers on-cell touch stylus support for the Lenovo Precision Pen and the Precision Pen 2. A magnetic link can be established between the stylus and the laptop.
The Lenovo Next-Gen ThinkPad X1 Fold is equipped with up to 12th Generation Intel Core U9 i5 and i7 CPUs and an Intel Iris Xe graphics card. It comes with up to 1TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSD storage and up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM. It has an Intel Visual Sense controller and a webcam with 5 megapixels of IR resolution for video conferencing.
The 48-Whr battery of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold supports 65W Rapid Charge. According to the manufacturer, the laptop has a battery life of up to 4 hours after only 30 minutes of charging. The laptop has dimensions of 276.2 x 345.7 x 8.6mm when it is unfolded and 176.4 x 276.2 x 17.4mm when it is folded. According to the company, the ThinkPad X1 Fold weighs 1.9 kg with the stand and keyboard and 1.28 kg without.
The laptop has a nano-SIM card slot in addition to two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, and one of the more recent versions of the USB port. Wi-Fi 6E, an optional connection to 5G networks, and support for Bluetooth v5.2 are all included in the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold. Lenovo also offers customers the chance to buy a full-size backlit Bluetooth keyboard with TrackPoint and a haptic touchpad. Windows 11 is preinstalled on the Lenovo Next-Gen ThinkPad X1 Fold. The next-gen ThinkPad X1 Fold offers intuitive Mode Switcher interface, as follows
Classic clamshell, or laptop mode: Offers a 12-inch primary display with an onscreen keyboard or a full-size ThinkPad Bluetooth TrackPoint keyboard. This mode is good for flights, trains, and cars with little space.
Landscape mode or all-in-one mode: Users can unfold the device into a landscape configuration with the stand and connect the keyboard—either attached or separated from the stand—to create a 16-inch laptop for multitasking or presentations.
Portrait mode: In portrait mode, a 16-inch screen is ideal for reading and editing long documents, social feeds, websites, and more.
Book mode: useful for proofreading and viewing digital publications.
Tablet mode: It can be utilized in portrait or landscape mode for effortless creation, colleague or family engagement, and content consumption on the Dolby Vision display.
