Like any other KZ headphones, the ZEX comes in standard packaging. Regarding the box content, we have a KZ ZEX, a detachable silver-plated copper cable, and three pairs of silicone ear tips.
In terms of design, the KZ ZEX resembles a mix of DQ6 and CCA Lyra. Each earbud has aluminum faceplates with a matte finish and resin shells. However, the faceplates give it a kind of heavy feel.
The earphone fit naturally into my ears and had no problem for long listening sessions. The transparent silver-plated copper cable is the same as CCA Lyra. It has sharply-angled 2-pin connectors through which you need to connect the module.
We had a microphone version, and the mic’s quality was really good.
I am no audio expert, but I listen to music regularly. So from my perspective, the KZ ZEX sounds good with most genres of music, including music with high bass output.
The KZ ZEX has a balanced and fairly mature tuning. As a result, KZ ZEX has a nicely balanced sound profile with slight elevation in the lower end.
The KZ ZEX is a great value for the price! It’s not the best option out there, but it’s a very solid choice that delivers great sound quality and performance for the price. ZEX is a very good choice if you’re looking for a well-balanced sound signature.
