iPhone 16 Pro Max Renders Reveal Taller Display

The next iPhone model, rumored to be called iPhone 16 Pro Max, may have a bigger screen compared to its predecessors. This information comes from a report by 9to5Mac, which analyzed early CAD files of the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

It appears that Apple is considering changes for its upcoming iPhone models, with the possibility of introducing the “Ultra” branding for the iPhone 16 Pro series. This move would follow a similar naming convention used for the Apple Watch Ultra last year.

iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Size and Design

Based on CAD files shared, the larger variant of the iPhone 16 Pro, potentially named iPhone 16 Ultra, is expected to feature a screen size of approximately 6.9 inches. In addition, the overall body of the device will undergo significant growth.

While the device will become taller, it will only slightly increase in width. This design choice is likely due to the existing challenge of comfortably holding the iPhone 14 Pro Max with one hand.

To provide a clearer understanding of the size differences, here are the approximate measurements for comparison:

iPhone 16 Ultra:

  • Width: 77.2 mm
  • Height: 165.0 mm
  • Screen Size: 6.9 inches

iPhone 15 Pro Max:

  • Width: 76.7 mm
  • Height: 159.8 mm
  • Screen Size: 6.7 inches

Increased Screen Size and Potential Features

The leaked CAD files indicate Apple’s intention to increase the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro Max while maintaining a similar overall form factor. Notably, industry insiders like Ming-Chi Kuo and Ross Young have also suggested that the smaller variant of the iPhone 16 Pro will experience growth, potentially featuring a screen size of around 6.3 inches.

This larger display could enable Apple to include a periscope zoom lens in the smaller iPhone 16 Pro, a feature that may be absent in the smaller iPhone 15 Pro.

It’s important to note that we are still at an early stage in the rumor cycle for the iPhone 16 lineup, as the launch is expected to take place over a year from now. Therefore, the accuracy of the leaked CAD models remains uncertain.

Currently, Apple has not made an official announcement regarding the iPhone 15 series, which is expected to be revealed in the latter half of 2023. However, leaks suggest that the Pro model of the iPhone 15 may include an Action Button and other notable features.

As we eagerly await more information, it is likely that details about both the iPhone 15 and potential iPhone 16 models will become available in the upcoming months.
