CES 2022 ASUS announces cyberpunk-era Zenbooks and TUF gaming laptops for 2022

ASUS continues its tradition of making exceptional products this year with a series of new features and design changes. The biggest surprises for 2022 are the Zenbook 17 Fold, a large tablet PC that we’ll talk about in a moment, and the all-new TUF Gaming series with a host of new design and performance enhancements.

ASUS ZenBook And TUF Gaming Laptops Revealed for 2022

The most important device, the 17-inch Zenbook, which is also foldable, is perhaps one of the most interesting things I saw at CES 2022. The Zenbook 17 Fold, as the name suggests, features a 17-inch PANTONE-validated foldable OLED screen with a maximum resolution of 2.5k and a full brightness of 350 nits. The 3:2 aspect ratio makes this cyberpunk-like device even more attractive. Such screens are great for productivity as you have a lot of vertical space to do a lot more.

In the press release, ASUS also mentions that the notebook is foldable with a 180-degree hinge, and the entire tablet is smaller than a sheet of copy paper when closed. The tablet comes with its keyboard and uses Windows 11, so you can easily arrange the different windows on the screen to suit your needs. The ZenBook 17 Fold has a 12th generation Intel Core i7 U-Series processor designed for efficiency, 16GB of RAM, 1TB PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD and a 5MP camera with ASUS noise cancellation and HD camera for more productivity.

Many of my friends and I love big 17-inch laptops, but carrying them in our small backpacks has always been a problem. This is where I think the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold can carve out its segment.
ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition

The ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition could be your ideal companion. The laptop is built to US Space Systems Command’s SMC-S-016A testing protocols, more stringent than the military’s standard tests. As a result, this laptop can withstand four times more vibration than a traditional military laptop. In addition, it can operate in extreme climates from -24°C to 61°C. This is probably the laptop they will use in the next “Fast and the Furious” movie when the “family” goes into space for good.

In terms of performance, the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition is powered by a 12th-generation Intel Core i9 H-series processor and a 14-inch OLED display with 2.8K resolution, available in both touch and non-touch versions. The notebook also features 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. The Space Edition also features a tiny 3.5-inch OLED display on the lid of the laptop, allowing users to give those around them a glimpse into their lifestyle,” the press release says. Right.

The standard Zenbook 14 was launched simultaneously as the Astronaut version and had more or less the same form factor. The Zenbook 14 OLED is powered by a 12th-gen Intel Core i7 processor from the P-series and has a 16:10-inch 2.8k OLED display (touch/non-touch) and a 2.5k Nanoedge 60Hz IPS display (non-touch). It has 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. The Zenbook 14 is also available with an AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor, but this model only comes with a PCIe Gen 3 compatible SSD. Both models come with the ASUS 2.0 numeric keypad and the ASUS Ergosense touchpad, which is nice to have.
ASUS TUF

ASUS has also unveiled the new TUF series with features, including a MUX switch, an all-new thin and light mecha-inspired chassis, and the powerful Intel Core i7-12700H processor of the 12th generation. The new notebook also features an Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU with 140W TGP, a screen resolution of up to 1440p, a 165Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage.
