Samsung Electronics has announced that it will introduce new offerings in the Odyssey, ViewFinity, and Smart Monitor lineups at CES 2023, which will take place later this week.
Odyssey Neo G9: The World’s First Dual UHD Gaming Monitor
For the first time, the Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 Gaming Monitor (model name: G95NC) offers 7,682,160 resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio on a single screen.
Its 1000R-curved 57″ screen uses quantum micro LED technology with VESA Display HDR 1000 to deliver superior imaging from shadows to bright scenes. And the matte display decreases screen reflection, eliminating distractions during hard gaming.
It also supports DisplayPort 2.1, which is twice as fast as DisplayPort 1.4, and the new DP2.1 allows lossless DSC to transport data without distortion. In addition, the Odyssey Neo G9 has a 240 Hz refresh rate to ensure smooth gameplay.
Odyssey OLED G9
The Odyssey OLED G9 (Model Number: G95SC) features a dual-quad-HD 49″ 1800R curved 32:9 display. It is packed with quantum dot OLED illumination that is regulated pixel-by-pixel, allowing near-infinite colour contrast.
The OLED panel illuminates each pixel separately rather than relying on a backlight, offering a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and genuine RGB and true black without colour filters. Odyssey OLED G9 offers a 0.1-ms reaction time and a 240Hz refresh rate.
The Odyssey OLED G9 leverages apps from partners like Prime Video, Netflix, and YouTube through the Smart Hub to stream content without a PC. Samsung Gaming Hub is an all-in-one game streaming platform that lets gamers play games from Xbox and NVIDIA GeForce Now on the cloud without a console or download.
ViewFinity S9
Samsung’s newest monitor is the ViewFinity S9 (S90PC). It has a 5K, 27″ screen and is intended for designers and photographers. Its 5,120 x 2,880 resolution and 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut give crisp, true-to-form details, and its average Delta E ≦2 colour accuracy produces clear, exact colour representation, even in complex visual contexts.
The monitor’s built-in colour calibration engine assures correct screen colour and brightness, allowing users to modify white balance, gamma, and RGB colour balancing with their smartphones. To reduce distractions, matte displays reduce glare and reflection.
The ViewFinity S9 Series has a 4K SlimFit camera and supports native video conferencing with apps like Google Meet. Users can connect USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 cameras and other devices to the monitor to easily send high-resolution video clips to their PC.
Smart Monitor M8
The Smart Monitor M8 (Model Number: M80C) sports a slim design and now comes in a 27″ size with 4K resolution. This monitor comes in four colours to match any decor: bright blue, green, pink, or white.
The height-adjustable, tilting stand provides the ideal angle. The 90-degree screen pivot reduces scrolling for long publications. It is VESA-mountable to save space and reduce clutter. Through its built-in SmartThings Hub, the Smart Monitor M8 can connect, control, and manage hundreds of compatible devices, including lights, cameras, doorbells, locks, and thermostats.
From this year on, Samsung will support Matter and Home Connectivity Alliance standards to improve device choices and usability.
Many of the Smart Monitor’s over-the-top apps, including SmartThings and the Smart Hub, now include mouse control. In addition, the integrated 2K SlimFit camera in the Smart Monitor M8 works with Google Meet. Samsung Knox Vault encrypts personal data and isolates files and information from the device’s primary operating system to prevent attacks.
My Content provides consumers with quick information. When the monitor detects a registered smartphone over low-power Bluetooth, it shows the user’s images, schedule, and more. When the phone leaves range, the monitor enters standby.
Speaking on the announcement, Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said:
We are introducing the future of gaming monitors with our Odyssey Neo G9, making each game more lifelike with innovative features and picture quality on a new scale. CES is the perfect place to showcase our innovations that can take not only gamers but also graphic designers or TV fans to the next level while providing personalized experiences across a range of integrated smart apps.
