AMD Ryzen Z1 Series To Power ROG Ally Coming on May 11
AMD just announced the Ryzen Z1 and Ryzen Z1 Extreme processors for handheld PC gaming consoles. These high-performing processors will offer industry-leading gaming experiences, uncompromising battery life, and featuring AMD RDNA 3 architecture-based graphics, said the company.
In addition, AMD is teaming up with ASUS to release the first Ryzen Z1 Series gadget, the Asus ROG Ally, a premium handheld PC console powered by up to a Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor.
AMD Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme processors include up to 8 cores and 16 threads with an efficient โZen 4โ architecture, which should provide good battery life as well as a high-performance gaming experience.
The former has four AMD RDNA 3 architecture-based graphics packed in, while the latter has twelve. These processors are compatible with Windows 11 and other operating systems and support USB4, LPDDR5, and LPDDR5X memory standards.
Further, it said that users can optimize their game play with AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition by utilizing features including AMD Radeon Super Resolution, Radeon Chill, Radeon Image Sharpening, AMD Link, and more. These enhancements can improve performance by increasing frame rates and responsiveness while extending battery life.
ASUS ROG Ally Launch Date
AMD Ryzen Z1 CPUs will initially be available in the Asus ROG Ally. ASUS already confirmed the release of its first handheld gaming console and has now disclosed the release date. ROG Allyโs complete specs, availability, and pricing will be available on May 11 at 10 a.m. ET.

Hands-on videos of the prototype device have already been posted, and the company has confirmed crucial specifications, which include a 7-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) 16:9 screen with 120Hz refresh rate screen, 500 nits brightness.
It also has a USB Type-C port that is used for charging at 65W, part of the connection port for ASUS XG Mobile external GPU that supports up to RTX 4090, M.2 2230 SSD with up to 1 TB storage option, heat pipe with two element heat sinks, vents on the top and in takes on the back.
